January’s Sip & Give

Thanks to Sip & Givers

Thanks to everyone who attended last night’s Sip & Give at Mad River Bar & Grille, and major thanks to Mad River for their generosity.  Everyone filled up on pizza and pasta, made connections, raised money for Counseling Center of Lake View and won some great raffle prizes!!

Congratulations to:

  • Dan Gaffney – winner of the Universal Sole Winter Running Package (Thanks to owner Joel for the donation!)
  • Rick Roberts – winner of the $350 Wines for Humanity gift certificate for a wine tasting
  • John Spitovsky – winner of a $100 gift certificate to Mad River Bar & Grille

The raffle is a great way to promote your business, so contact us to make a donation: sipandgive@hotmail.com.

Finally, I want to welcome Sarah Bixeman to the Sip & Give volunteer crew!  She is going to help us come up with fresh ideas and events to grow Sip & Give into the networking benefit event that everyone will want to attend.  Please take a minute to welcome her at the next event.  We’re SUPER excited to have her on board.

Thanks to Joel Feinberg, owner of Universal Sole, for donating a cool winter running package complete with shoes, hat, scarf and gloves to the January Sip & Give raffle.

Want to win it?  RSVP today and we’ll see you at Mad River January 26th!

Happy New Year, everyone!

What a great one it’s starting off to be.  New beginnings are always refreshing.

Hope you will join us for Sip & Give January at Mad River Bar & Grill and benefiting Counseling Center of Lake View.  You can find more details on the sidebar.

The Counseling Center of Lake View:

Was one of the first of its kind in the city and has been working with the hard to reach and low income for 30+ years

It provides more than just psychiatry services, they work with at risk children, homeless and homeless youth, have the largest Hispanic program in the city serving roughly 250 people a year, domestic abuse, provide medications at NO COST, CTA passes to help individuals get to the center, provide satellite offices across the city….

It really is a unique place and with state budget uncertainties, CCLV could be forced to cut back its services, leaving many on the street and without services and assistance.

If everyone one of you attends we could raise nearly $2,000 from the FB group alone!  If you come each month we could raise nearly $30,000 for charity this year.  THAT is MY goal for 2010.  Won’t you take part and help make a difference?

Be well,
Jennifer

It’s a new year and a chance for a fresh start professionally and personally.  January is National Networking Month and that means a lot of opportunity to get out, meet people and create business opportunities.

Sip & Give is thrilled to be chosen to be highlighted for National Networking Month.   Check it out!! Visit the site and see what it’s all about.   An awesome resource for connecting!

Thanks to Cornelia Robinson for finding Sip & Give and featuring our event January 26th.

Happy New Year and Happy New Decade!  It’s crazy and a little strange that time seems to be going by in light years these days.  That’s why it’s important to live each day fully and make the most out of every opportunity.

We’re anxious to get everyone’s New Year started off right with our next networking event January 26th at Mad River.  Come, join us and experience how you can network socially and professionally and contribute to your community.  We’re actually pretty beside ourselves that we’ve been able to create Sip & Give and keep it so affordable.  This is in MUCH thanks to our venue partners which have been and continue to be so generous.

The Counseling Center of Lake View is a private non-for-profit organization committed to the provision of quality, comprehensive, mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence services for the residents of the Lake View and adjacent communities. The Center is especially concerned about the development of services for population groups traditionally underserved by mental health and substance abuse providers.

This approach incorporates low fees based upon a discount schedule, individual advocacy, outreach, and maintenance of cooperative relationships with other institutions and resources in the community. Sip & Give networking events happen each month and we hope you will mark your calendar to join us for every single one.  Be….part of your community in more ways than one.

February: Mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 16th when Sip & Give goes exotic at Gaylord Chicago Fine Indian in the Gold Coast!

We at Sip & Give want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season.  We’re preparing for the January Sip & Give Networking Event benefiting Counseling Center of Lake View at Mad River Bar & Grille!

Give your business networking meaning in 2010 by joining Sip & Give.  Attendees are growing their businesses while helping some of Chicago’s most unique organizations that work to help others.  So far we’ve teamed with Imerman Angels (1-on-1 Cancer Support) and Lakeview Pantry.  Our members have been uber generous after leanning about local nonprofits that are really making a difference in the lives of our neighbors, and we thank you all!

Read our past posts to see how individuals and businesses are making a difference through Sip & Give.  We’re incredibly thankful to the generosity of our venue partners and those businesses promoting themselves through our raffle – which has featured some of the best items I’ve ever encountered in my years of networking.

So mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 26 from 6-8p and put meaning behind your business networking!

Be well!

Yesterday I had the honor of speaking at a class at Loyola University that focuses on nonprofit PR.  These kids are conducting pro bono PR and marketing for area nonprofits like:

  • Chicago Shares
  • Coats for Kids
  • OCD Chicago
  • Generation Mirror
  • Canine-Assisted Therapies
  • Lincoln Park Community Shelter
  • Howard Community Center

They are doing some great stuff and utilizing social media to bring attention to their causes.   It was inspiring to see them so proud of what they are doing.

Not to mention the wonderful organization their professor Dr. Patricia Kay Felkins founded, Africa Circle of Hope which offers support to AIDS orphans.   I am constantly amazed by what people can do to make a difference in our community and world.  I encourage you to support these organizations and the students’ efforts.

Go out and help someone this week!

Thanks to all….

..who were involved with and attended last night’s Sip & Give at Sully’s House.   So many people touched by cancer sharing their experiences and learning more about Imerman Angels.  It’s also interesting to see how many are embracing  Sip & Give, and for that I thank you!

Congrats to our raffle winners:

  • John Spitkosky – one hour free organizing service from Mercury Organizing Professionals
  • John McKevitt – One year of website hosting from Tasty CMS
  • Jason Clarke – five hours of work from Frequent Assistant
  • Lidia Varesco – $25 gift certificate from Sully’s House
  • Betsy Wassilak – holiday cards from Lidia Varesco Designs

Looking forward to another great event in January for Counseling Center of Lake View!

Finally, I want to acknowledge a dear friend of mine, Rick Roberts, who, thanks to attending last month’s Sip & Give benefiting the Lakeview Pantry, has secured the largest donation of food the Pantry has ever received – 60 boxes of chickens and we’re talking big boxes! – from Hear Foundation.  Thanks, Rick!

There is something about Sip & Give….all I can say is that people want to get involved and all of our venues are being SO generous to make the networking benefits unbelievable!

January is the start of a new year and new opportunities for your business.  You are not going to want to miss a Sip & Give that will truly help you start the new year!

Thanks to Mandy at Mad River, which is hosting the January 26th Sip & Give, for their massive generosity.

As always, $20 at the door inlcudes $10 donation to the Counseling Center of Lake View, unlimited domestic beer drafts, pizza and pasta bar and for $3 more you can get house cocktails for TWO HOURS!  All while you network to grow your business.

So if that wasn’t sweet enough, Mad River is throwing in a $100 gift certificate for the raffle.  That’s on top of the wine tasting for 14 from Wines for Humanity valued at $350!

Mad River has a mad amount of space so bring everyone you know whether rain, sleet or snow….you’re going to want to be there!

You might want to RSVP early!  sipandgive@hotmail.com
